Wazz "UP?"--a reprise from the "UP pity guy"
Your question reminded me of a post from some weeks back by a guy who called himself the "UP pity guy." His post about the word "up" was very interesting, so I saved it. Thought those who missed it the first time might enjoy it, so here it is:

What is "UP" 29/Mar/2007 03:24 (GMT)
There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that is "UP."
It's easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP? At a meeting, why does a topic come UP? Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report ?
We call UP our friends. And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver, we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car . At other times the little word has real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses. To be dressed is one thing, but to be dressed UP is special .
And this UP is confusing: A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP. We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.
We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP! To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP, look the word UP in the dictionary. In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4th of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions. If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP , you may wind UP with a hundred or more. When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP! . When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP
When it rains, it wets the earth and often messes things UP.
When it doesn't rain for awhile, things dry UP .
One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP , for now my time is UP , so........... it is time to shut UP .....!
Oh . one more thing:
What is the first thing you do in the morning & the last thing you do at night? U-P

UP Guy, Thanks for the post. You’ve given me more food for thought and prompted me to look UP the word in my Shorter OED. As I suspected, the word is a part of English’s earlier Germanic roots. It appears as both “up” and “upp” in Old English. It is spelled “up” in Old Scandinavian and “upp” in Old Norsk. It is related to the Old High German “ūf” from which comes the Modern German “auf”, as in “Wachet auf!” (=Wake UP!) This Shorter OED lists 2 ½ pages of entries for “up” and 6 pages of compound words with the prefix “up.”
I first had occasion to think about how many ways we use the word “up” in English, as a result of living in France! My French girlfriend, a polyglot and lover of languages, pointed it out to me. One evening, as she was leaving my second floor apartment, I said to her, “Let me walk you down,” whereupon she said, “English speakers use ‘up’ and ‘down’ a lot.” When I thought about it, I realized she was right. It also made me think of how Germanic languages make use of compounds to form new words much more frequently than Romance languages.
“Down” is also frequently used. There are 1 ½ pages of listings for it, plus nearly 2 pages of compounds. “Down” is from the Middle English of the same spelling. It may well be related to “down”, from the Old English “dūn,” meaning hill (hence our word dune). “Dūn,” may ultimately be Celtic in origin (In Old Irish “dūn,” meant a fort built on a hill) and related to the Old English, “tūn,” meaning town. So, if one is leaving a hillside “town”, one is going “down” a hill. In modern English we always say “DOWNtown” (or UPtown) to indicate we are going to a city’s center, whether we are descending or ascending a hill. In French, by comparison, DOWNtown is “centreville,” (i.e. “center city”…although come to think of it, Philadelphians always say they are going to “center city)
Finally, one more amusing “up” story for your portfolio. It is apparently peculiar to the denizens of the Mid-Atlantic US city, Baltimore, to use the expression “to go up” when referring to a car or appliance dying. For example one might say, “My transmission went UP,” or “My refrigerator went UP.” I have not found this usage outside of Baltimore. Perhaps it was adopted from some similar German usage, given that Baltimore had a huge German speaking population in the 19th century and well into the early 20th century. Who knows, maybe I could look it UP! I’m UP for that (or as is said in African-American dialect, I’m DOWN for that! Lol!)

Bacchant,
You are welcome. I thought it was interesting; that's why I saved it and it seemed apt here with the post, "Wazz UP," so I took the liberty of posting it again. (I hope the UP man doesn't sue for copyright violations! lol!)
Should I take your posting name here to mean you are a devotee to Bacchus, a wine lover, or perhaps more broadly just a Bacchanalian? :)

because their brains function differently than ours.
If you read "Why men dont listen and women can't read maps" from Barbara and Allan Pease or "Men are from mars women are from venus" you will be able to answer this and many other questions :))))

RE: Why do men keep ...
Milena, I saw these titles along with other best-sellers like "Tuesdays with Mory" and books by that pop psychologist---what's his name...something like "Deep Choke Chicken?" In any case I didn't read the books you cite. It seems self-evident that men and women think differently, but I suspect the differences have just as much to do with social conditioning as with inherent neuro-biological differences. For example, it was always assumed that boys were better at math than girls. However, this is not the case. The observation failed to take into account how our educational institutions tend to encourage girls and boys to pursue different paths. That is why there are more boys than girls in math and science classes.
Conversely, more girls than boys pursue Literary Arts. It has also been observed by many that girls read more than boys. Why? I submit the answer is, once again, social conditioning.

RE: answer me guyssss
I could turn that around and say do you girls really like sucking cocks as I would imagine that does not exactly stimulate the taste buds either (as neither does sucking toes, fingers, kissing). So I personally like licking pussies from a sexual point of view and leave the Hawiaain pizza to stimulate the tase buds.If I can combine the two I am even happier.
RE: answer me guyssss
It's not so much the taste as the act itself...so erotic....I love it ;)
RE: answer me guyssss
Second that wholeheartedly. Seems to excite m GFs too, so it's a win-win situation. :P
RE: answer me guyssss
I also tasted both, pusy and cock and i like cock. i like to feel the cock in my lips and watch his face of pleasure. the cocks i tasted are much better than the pusies i had. at me cocks taste better. but u r right about cum. when its clear is healthy, if white then it means it tastes salty and yuck!!!!!
RE: answer me guyssss
well its not the taste that matters,,
its the intimacy ,, the closeness , when a woman wants you there , she has made a very intimate connection with you.
lets say more that good friends lol..
so then there is the look on her face,, the feeling you get as she gets more excited , and wants u not to stop , that , control , the teasing ,,
the knowing how much she is enjoying this, the experimenting to find the nicest moves, (have u tried mints ? )
every woman is slightly differnt there , and I love that giving
(see viewer forum a many girls have a lot down there to eat on hehe some a bit too much for me lol but ,, i guess all is of interest to try )
most women really really like oral there , a few less so, but its not a bad way to show how much you care for her,,
what do u girls think,,?

RE: Eurovision
so is eurovision the european version of that crap show 'american idol' or what?
RE: Eurovision
it's not a show! it's a big contest among european countries!
Russian version for US crap "american idol" is "become a star" ...it's not very popular and it has different versions in each european country.
As for Eurovision, it is a very old contest among many european countries (as not all take a part in it yet). It started in 1956 and only 7 countries took a part in it. This year participated 42 countries.
The most well-known singers who took first place at Eurovision during its history in MY opinion are:
- "ABBA" (Sweden) with song "Waterloo" in 1974.
- Celine Dion (Switzerland) in 1988
- Toto Cutugno (Italy) in 1990
Russia joined Eurovision at 1994, Ukraine performed first time in 2003. Belarus joined in 2004 and this year it went to final first time :)

RE: Eurovision
I think 42 countries participate but only 24 can make it to the final due to time restraints.
RE: Eurovision
I couldnt watch it :(( cause i was travelling from yorkshire to home but heard some english dj saying they should make it eastern europe contest and western europe contest because eastern europe countries are heavily supposting each other and the votes arent very objective lol. I thought as a vote it is subjective anyway lol. They r finding excuses to defend the brutally stupid english song :))))))))))

Logitech Rebate
I just found out Logitech has a rebate offer on their QuickCam Pro 5000 until the end of the month. Using price search engines I found it for under $60 with shipping before the $20 mail in rebate. Not sure if the offer is valid outside the US, but thought I'd post this for those of us who cam on a budget.
