If you are talking about pictures of movie stars, rocks stars, sports starts, etc. then that is harmless in my opinion. I don't think it should be banned but I think people should be educated to drink responsibly. That maybe makes me a bit of a hypocrite as from the age of 15 -25 there was barely a weekend when I wasn't very drunk.

I do think, however, that drinking beyond a certain amount ruins a really good night (but unfortunately I have been there many times).

They already tried to ban it in the U.S.A. it will never work. If 15% of your population does something you cannot make it illegal. It's just too expensive for the rest of the population to prosecute and incarcerate a population that large.

That is the problem the U.S. is now having with marijuana. The usage in the U.S. is in that neighborhood, and it just won't pay to keep it illegal. It is in the process of being "decriminalized", meaning that personal use is not generally prosecuted. If they prosecute someone for marijuana it's usually because they have another reason for wanting that person in jail.

I enjoy drinking alcohol from time to time. I like a nice red wine or a good beer. I don't drink hard alcohol like vodka too much although I do drink it at times. And fortunately my stomach cannot handle drinking too much so I don't usually get drunk. Plus, I don't like the damage I know it does to my body to drink too much.

I guess if there wouldn't be some euphoric side effects, I wouldn't drink. I suppose this is the real test and reason most people drink. I would never drink non-alcholic beer for example so clearly taste is not the key reason. But I do enjoy the taste of a wine and beer. And it does help to relax a person and make a meal or watching a sporting event more fun.

In terms of getting drunk, that can be fun, but I don't know that it is worth the price that is paid the next day, the damage to the body, and the danger of losing control. But I think people can drink responsibly and it should remain legal. Totally sober people drive cars and have accidents so clearly the test is not whether something has the potential to be dangerous. And in terms of marijuana, I have never smoked it or even a cigarette, but I wouldn't mind seeing it legalized although I am not so sure it is less dangerous than alcohol.

In terms of alcoholics, again that is not a reason to ban alcohol. Unless you could show me a large percentage of people are in danger of becoming alcoholics so alcohol is just too dangerous, I think that the individual must take responsiblity. And usually it runs in families and certain ethnic groups such as native Americans so there are usually warnings to be careful before that first drink.

By the way, I haven't had a drink in at least a week so I don't drink a lot. Maybe heavier drinkers should respond. I might buy a six pack of beer and drink it in a few days and then not drink for 2 weeks. And I live alone, and I have had two bottles of good wine sitting in my apartment for over a month because I don't have someone here to drink it with, so I can control myself. I wouldn't mind a drink now, lol, because I will admit thinking about it makes me want one. But the real test is can you say "no" and most of us can. I can tell you this.... It is a lot easier for me not to drink than to resist going into video with a hot host, lol.

I drink alcohol solely for the purpose of getting drunk, which is maybe a few times a year. Other than that, I don't touch the stuff. I'd much rather have a coffee or a Coke over a sociable alcoholic beverage.

I have tasted whiskey twice and thought it was very good, and that is mainly why I dont drink it. If there was such a thing as non alcoholic whiskey I probably would drink it. Beer I cant even stand the smell of it, probably because when I was young my grandfather made a slop for hogs out of wheat and barley that was put in a barrel and filled with water, and it smells just like beer, so I associate the smell of beer with the smell of hogs, which is not good. Wine, well honestly grapejuice does taste better to me than wine.

I would rather spend the evening sober than drunk, because I prefer to be in control and to remember what happened. In college I had fun telling my roommates that drank they did very embarassing things when they were drunk, and they didnt know if it was true or not lol. Like many people here, I started drinking socially with just a drink or 2 every time I met with old friends. It was cool, macho, and why I would not drink? I was always in control. I could always put it down and not drink anymore. My relatives had this problem, but hey, I am younger, stronger, and smarter. One more drink will not hurt me, besides all my friends are having fun. Until one day of a sudden I found myself drinking 8 - 10 drinks everyday.... Rum, beers, wine, champagne, Scotch, Whisky, just about anything you can find in the Liquor Store. I have liver problems and everything tastes bitter. I have digestive problems and I still can't quit drinking the stupid alcohol, it became a need, a must in my life. I went to the AA and look for help, but nothing works. I know its killing me each day, but I can't stop it. I am already destroyed. Alcohol is one of the worse things in this life. it destroyed my family and all I love and I always thought to be in control after all I was 29 when I started drinking, not a 15 or 17 year old that doesn't know when to stop. I never screamed to my wife in years back when in my sober days, then I started calling her names and even hitting her until she left me and vanished with our kids. My dad, my uncles, my grandfather, they all died from alcoholic problems and unfortunately I will also die the same way....

I have very little understanding of addictions, but while I can see how something like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) might not work, aren't there pills that make alcohol taste so bad that you just don't want it? Maybe I am wrong. Anyway, I cannot believe you are the only one in this situation and that doctors cannot help you.

Maybe a psychologist can trace back your history and find out the reason you went from a social drinker to a heavy drinker. Maybe there was a triggering event and you just need to undo whatever happened back then. It could be a psychological issue, not just a physical addication.

I am out of my league here. And like I said in one post, my stomach just cannot handle a lot of alcohol and when I drink a lot, I feel so bad the next day that I won't want to get drunk for a year. Even 4 beers can start making me feel a little sick. (4 shots of Vodka, even 6 or 8, because of the lack of impurities works much better, lol.)

Plus, the first time I got drunk, I was 16, my parents were not home, and I mixed everything including gin. I walked into walls. I threw up all over myself while sleeping. (Fortunately I didn't pull a rock star death and die in my sleep that way). I got away with it, but every time I smell gin, I relive the experience over 25 years later so there is definitely a psychological affect.

Maybe there is a way such as medication or something else to make you just want to run away every time you see alcohol. It will be tough because alcohol is everywhere, but I think with the proper help, you can do it.

Your attitude here sounds like you just have said to yourself "Well, everybody else in my family went down this path and died so I guess that I will too." As long as you think that way, that is exactly what will happen. You have given away control of yourself and your life. You need the attitude that says "It might be hard, but I can do this. " But you need to want to make a change. You cannot let other things in your life such as problems at work or at home make you say "F*ck it! Life sucks and I don't care what happens to me." You must have hope that life can be good and you must take responsiblity and seize control of your life and your actions otherwise you will never stop drinking the way you do. How you do this is with professional help, but you must BELIEVE that you can.

I don't know where you are from, but there is a children's story called "The Little Engine that Could". All of these big powerful trains are going up a big hill and this smaller train is concerned that he cannot do it. But through the power of positive thinking, he succeeds. First he says "I think I can. I think I can. I think I can." Then as he gets closer to the top he says "I know I can. I know I can. I know I can." Obviously, a children's story is not going to solve all of your problems, but I assume you get the point.

Find positive things in your life to live for. Be optomistic that you can get through this. Get help from experts, and if you have already done this, then maybe they are not "experts" and you need somebody better. And just try to get up that hill.

I was only 14 when my friend took his Dad's brand new Kawasaki KZ1000R to school. I had only rode scooters, but I begged my friend to let me ride his bike (huge mistake). I wouldn't totally agree with you. I have passed exams but if you had suddenly asked me to sit an exam in the same subject 2 or 3 months later there would have been a very good chance that I would have failed.

Also, in the main, the real world is not like an exam. If you can't remember something you look it up and remind yourself or you ask colleagues etc.

While I don't think cheating is a good idea, the attacks on you are way over the top. Half of them come from members that are cheating on their wives and gfs, and the other half are from hosts that lie, deceive and manipulate members.

There are some situations where people must do what they have to in order to survive. (I believe that philosophy explains the deception of hosts on the site, would it not?) I don't think cheating on exams is any different.

Sometimes a person cheats because he is lazy. Sometimes a person cheats because of lack of time to study. Sometimes a person cheat because he is trying his best to learn but the teacher is horrible and there is no other way. Sometimes a person cheats because he tries his best and the teacher is okay, but the student just is unable to grasp the subject matter. Each of these situations is different and should be judged separately.

Unless you are studying to be a doctor, nurse, or some other profession where somebody's life could be in jeopardy by your lack of knowledge, I don't think you are doing any great harm to the world. Still I think it is not fair to your classmates who are not cheating or to your employer who hires you based on how you did in school. I would encourage you to try not to cheat, but I understand that there are situations where you feel pressured towards cheating. Just try not to get into the habit of taking the easy way out because every time you do something wrong, you lose a little piece of your soul and you might not ever get it back.

By the way, there might be alternatives. For example, maybe a classmate has good notes and study guides that will help you through this difficult time. Good luck!
