Because the problem is, that while there is nobody in chat many hosts use to do something else, cleaning the house, watching tv, reading... and it will take some minutes for them to reply when someone enters free chat.... so if there is 6 minute limit, and host come to read viewers question when 5 minutes is already gone, how does that work?

Calm down hosts... im not serious when telling your session should be cancelled if no reply in 6 minutes, im just making a point why this time limit might not work ;-)

I have had that, a member enters video and he is in maybe a minute and if I don't get the hello in there fast enough he is gone...that is not really fair of the member....most times when I have not answered within one minute, it because either, I am in the middle of responding to another member who has asked a question, or there is a technical problem....and if the member has not sent a mail to me before not done a video at least once there is not way to send the member a mail saying apologizing and saying what happened..

I agree that will work for hosts who decide to just ignore people in free chat or even in a video...but it is not really fair to hosts who do take the time to talk in free chat and who do their best to satisfy in a video.

I don't use free chat at all. And only in rare cases enter an open video, when I know there is another member present in her video.

As you say, it only takes a few minutes to decide whether or not to stay and I make the investment in those few minutes not only to set expectations, but also get a better feel as to my likes and dislikes on her looks and personality. It's only a few bucks.

How about, instead of screwing around with free chat (which works just fine, in my opinion), CC adjust profiles and profile policy.

Specifically, I'd love to see the "What you can expect from my show" section to be reformed. There should be check boxes: Chat, Sexy poses, bathing suit, bra, handbra, topless, etc... The host can check all that applies, and CC should hold them to what they choose or issue penalties.

Then maybe profiles wouldn't be so useless, and we can stop using free chat for negotiating.

Exactly. I'm with the girls on this. I use free chat very briefly. I think of it as being polite. A quick knock on the door to see if the person is home, make sure we're both on the same page as far as expectations, then I'm in. That takes maybe 3min tops.

However, if just talking is your thing, and it's that important to you, then in all fairness, it should be part of the paid process, ie video. I understand wanting to make sure of good english, etc...this and many other expectations can be accomplished in a very short amount of time.

Minimum wage in my country is, I believe $7.55/hour, And most of the jobs becoming available are minimum wage jobs. If you work a restaurant, you get a fraction of that (because you will also receive tips... but in a low-volume restaurant, the "tips" are a joke, compared to a high-class restaurant.

Free chat is offered for several reasons, I'm sure: to allow for a measure of "trying before buying," to establish rapport, to make sure the coast is clear (the host is available, not busy with others), to begin communication. It is NOT intended to take the place of videochat (like some try to make it, hanging out for hours, getting off to text-chat, or whatever they do. It is intended to be preliminary to videochat.

Both members and hosts are to blame for bad free-chat experience. Those members who use it as a substitute, especially, and those hosts who either ignore members in free chat altogether, or who don't know when to put an end to someone's abuse of it.

In my opinion after a couple of minutes of free-chat interaction the host is entirely within her rights to ask, "how about coming in to video-chat?" and after the second and third attempts to bring the member in, she should say "If you can't come into videochat, I have other members to attend to." And if a person is abusive of it, hanging out for 30, minutes or more at a time, she should block him but remind him first: "The purpose of my being here is to earn money." Some guys NEVER intend to move beyond freechat to video. others are slow about it, or timid about moving into videochat. The host, of course, needs to use discretion in how she handles it, but overall, I think hosts need to be a little more assertive about it without being rude.

That's the point I'm making. Hosts should not permit 30 minute free-chatting, except maybe in special cases. Hosts who permit it, and resent it, are only encouraging it by their permission. If she is resenting it as an intrusion, then she should be assertive to put an end to it by moving the customer into videochat or moving him out of free chat, saying You've been in free chat long enough.

And yes, I know that you aren't videochatting an entire hour, usually, and definitely not for the entire time you are online. But like the person who talked about commission: you may have only people interested in "looking" rather than "buying" for a day or even days, but then on another day you may have multiple sales that more than make up for your lack on other days. I've been in some host's rooms where there are 2 or 3 members in videochat at the same time.

The important thing to remember, and what I think "Doc" was trying to say, is: It's the nature of the job. It's not really a matter of how much you are getting paid "per minute" or "per hour" -- but what the job requires. For car sales, commission work requires lots of "no sales", seemingly, potentially wasted time. But that seemingly wasted time may next week see the return of that customer after he has shopped around. To have ignored the customer, been rude to the customer, because you don't like just talking "for free" -- might mean losing out what may have been a future sale. Also those apparent "no sales" may be more than made up for the next day, or next week -- or never (that has to be allowed, too)

But the wise person uses all the tools at his/her disposal to build contacts, foster trust, and close sales.

Free chat goes with the territory here at CC. It's part of the job, for all it's pros and cons. It's one more "tool" in the host's toolchest. She can make of it what she will, use it to her advantage, or not.

Hey guys, after reading all these, just had an idea. It would be something cc would have to do.
I use free chat the way it should be as far as I'm concerned, like many people do; just to make sure all is well with the host, we are on the same page as far as expectations, then off we go to video. This takes (never actually timed it) but probably 3-5 min max.

Obviously many members abuse this. I agree that hosts should do their best to shorten these sessions for their own sake. I also understand how that can be difficult. You want the sale very much, plus many of you are very nice people, and just simply don't want to be rude.

So how bout this: What if CC set it up so that as a member...Visiting a host whom you Have Not Gone to Video With Before... so basically a first time visit...in each of those hosts Free chat, you have a total time limit per host per day of say 6 min. This timer would be shown in Free chat and would be counting down, so you know how much time you have.

If you've visited the host before in video..the host has the option to remove this restriction. That way for regulars...if she enjoys talking with them in Free Chat, she can allow it. I would think it best not to allow the option to remove the restriction actually though...If a host Really enjoys Just talking for free that much, with various members, they can always agree upon many other ways to do this.

In any case, for those who have never entered her video, this restriction is always there, and she can not remove it. This would take those who abuse free chat out of the picture, and takes the pressure off the host.

So the only other question that I can see is: Do those who spend forever in Free Chat and actually enter video...are there more of them...and is their value greater...than the aggravation and wasted time of those that spend forever, and don't even bother to enter video.

From what I'm hearing the bad outweigh the good. I've also done sales, and the fact that those who spend the most time in Free, spend very little time in Video, fits the mold. They also are often the rude ones. My guess is, that none of these people would actually be lost as customers anyway, they would just have to come in alot quicker.

So what do you guys think? Sorry this was so long. Sometimes a host will do something wrong, and I'll be worked up about that; by the same token, I feel bad about the abuse you guys have to put up with as well, and I think this would take alot of that away.

You also asked about Good ratings though. Let's actually start in the middle with a 3. That comes almost always, from a so-so performance. The girl was nice, she looked good, but the 'hot show' almost put me to sleep. Lots of those out there. They appear to be thinking about when they are going to get their nails done next or something like that while doing their show. Not only distracted, they just have no real passion and it shows. They always get a 3. Not going to be cruel and give them a 1, but certainly they are not getting a 5 either.

Speaking of which, 5 stars would be earned though an overall great experience which includes a good attitude, great looks, and perhaps most of all, probably no surprise, an excellent performance.

As long as the hosts keep their promise and don't ignore me then I always give 5 stars.

The reasons being :-

1. I don't see why a host should be penalised if she tried her best.
2. It counters the members who give 1 star for frivolous reasons.
3. My desire to help the hosts far outweighs any desire I have to help the members.

5 stars? Well, first of all, she needs at least to appear to be breathing!
Then of course, she has to be engaging - interesting to talk to, someone who seems to be genuinely interested in me. If she seems disinterested or preoccupied with other things - I leave and give less than 5
Next, if I'm in the mood for play, and her play is exciting and responsive, then yes, 5 stars. But if she just seems to lie there like a log, with little or no life, then less than 5 stars.

Now that I have probably sufficiently muddied the waters on why I give the rating I give. I hope from all the responses you get a good idea of why members do what they do, and why hosts get the ratings they get.

I've had a few exactly like that.

I don't know what others do, but if I give 1 star or 2 star I take the time to tell the host the reason.I think that's only right and fair. It's one thing to express dissatisfaction with a low rating, but it does not positive good if the host has no idea why. So hopefully, by telling her my reasons, she might improve. At least she has a chance to improve, whether she so chooses or not.
