which contest type do you like?
Personally, I am not a fan of contests because 1) I end up spending more money when I decide to participate and 2) when I don't participate, I often have to deal with some angry host because I am not participating, lol.
One contest I liked a little bit occured a little while back. It was the voting contest. Even though it was annoying to leave every 5 minutes to vote and even though members couldn't win, it wasn't too bad. i rather have a better system, but hosts lowered their prices and i got to meet some new ladies that maybe i would never have met. Of course, I did run into one jerko host that d/c me because I dared to ask her to stand and didn't vote 5 seconds after 5 minutes passed, but I let CC know and I assume she was dealt with accordingly. But generally speaking, it was not a bad contest in my view.
As for the word contests, people are winning by using a giant word list and some type of program so that is ridiculous. the easter egg matching contest took all of 2 minutes to figure out how to maximize one's score, and puzzle contests are annoying because CC controls when important pieces will be released.

Yeah I agree the voting contest was far better, and one improvement that could be made, instead having to leave every 5 mins is that the votes stack, ie if I spend 20-30 I get 4-6 votes. That way you can still votes and spend quality time with your hosts :)

For contest time..... a contest not based on spending.
What I'd like to see, though, is not a contest as such, but IS based on spending is some sort of member awards throughout the year... weekly or monthly draws for members to win video time or "credit" type awards with odds improving based on amount spent during that week or month. Like a top winner of 100 minutes, second place of 50... whatever.
Or even just bonus time for accumulation of time spent throughout the year.
It's something for the members who support this site throughout the year and it doesn't involve taking part in the attitude change this place undergoes at regular contest time.

There was an easter contest like that a while back, you got mystery prizes, some members won random amounts of free credit and the hosts got $$ prizes. I thought it worked really well cos both parties scored.

I have seen a number of puzzle contests, and there usually is a pattern to when the hard to get pieces will be released by CC. The most winners you will see the first few days is right around 00:00 CC time, for example. It definitely is not random in my view as to when these certain pieces are released. The winners are probably random, although I have some doubts for various reasons, but the time the key pieces are released is definitely not random. It is the only way for CC to make sure the contest lasts the full 5 days.

well if somebody wants to try to figure out the exact pattern and then tell all the hosts and members what it is so we all know when to play, and if the only reason people are here is for a contest, then i guess you would be right, lol.

Like I said during a earlier contest, if this contest were based out if usa, it would be regulated and cc would be required to post more details about the contest. For example, chance if winning and how the pieces are released.

From the pattern of winners and the fact that some pieces are harder to get than others it is clear that the allocation is not completely random although chance is one factor. However it is also not simply a matter of being on line at the right time.

Why I hate contests....
Besides the frustration of getting the same pieces 10.000 times, besides my host friends going crazy and annoying me with their frustration and my needing to tell them over and over to relax, and besides some hosts acting like I am not a good friend since I either chose not to play or didn't play with them enough, here is another reason: hosts I saw once or twice and haven't spoken to in at least a month acting like we are best friends or lovers. Here is a ccmail I just got:

And if they do annoy you with their traffic problems or ask you to join them in prv to help them with the puzzle etc you can respond polite that you don t wanna play this game.
I think every host can understand why members don t like to play games on cc so will not be sad after.

lol... i wasn't even thinking about that.... but i am sure most members had the same reaction when they got the email.... and she was not the only host that all of a sudden "missed me". Nothing like contest time to find out who your "special" friends are, lol.
a different kind of contest?
i would like to suggest a different kind of contest(s) in the future. one thing that is common in all the contests is that they encourage chathosts to stay awake for as long as possible, even if it is not good for their health. it would be great in future contests if there was some kind of 'time limit' or something per day that could be played, maybe 8-10 hours at the most. it would take some rethinking, but i do not think it would be that difficult.
or contest done in a completely different manner so that it did not encourage staying awake for 3 or 4 days in a row to win a prize. there has to be a safer way, healthwise, for the chathosts to do these contests.

Yeah i tried it when i was very young and loved clubbing untill 7 am, and after go home, shower, this magic cocktail and to the office))))))))))))

Many girls have never been cover girls and win ove and over... "host" i dont think covergirls get better traffic during contests. But its just my opinion. ;) Good luck anyway

1. Go out drinking together (or any other activity that friends would do)
2. You never pop round to my house (or vice versa)
3. You don't call me on the phone
4. If we meet in the street we just say "hi" and then move on
If we can agree to this then , I think that, you and me being friends could just work.
and to member I would much prefer to have been stuck in the 1980's with or without friends (the only down side no internet or cc).

I have used multiple accounts on CC. I open one, then use it awhile, then close it after I establish who my new friends are and who just emails me for video to avoid having to hear from fake people.
Anyway, when I have played a contest with an account that I spent a lot of money on before the contest, and then spend a lot during the contest, I have won. But even if I play a lot during the contest, if it is a newer account that I didn't yet spend a lot on before the contest, I don't win. Maybe it is just a coincidence. I don't know. But it seeemed like I was being rewarded when using an account that I had used a lot before the contest as long as I played a lot too. And based on what I hear from hosts, it is usually big spenders on CC that win... And like I said, not because they just spent a lot during the contest. Rather, they also needed to spend a lot before the contest as well.
