Yes, Russia has basketball team, though this sport hardly can be called popular here. Anyway, if I remember right, Russian men's team won bronze medals in the Olympic Games in London 2012 and they even won Eurobacket in my time. But very few people are interested in this sport here. At lleast I know nobody.

Yes, Kate, everything is possible :). I have experienced it, though I wouldn't call it love (as love in my opinion is a long and deep feeling), but I've been absolutely fallen in love and the same has been on the opposite side. The member was from here, and we met only once for money (that Fil has mentioned above). That gave a start to our relations. We were keeping in touch for more than 2 years and it was really excited. If you wonder how we saw each other - by other means of communication as he was rather poor :)). We've never met in real because of different countries and my family status, but I'm sure we would if were a bit richer lol. I wish you good luck and faith in miracles!

I've been on the cams probably since the cams existed and even if initially I might sound cynical deep down I am such a sucker for love! A hopeless romantic! I've been in love with a few of my viewers. Moved from eastern Europe to Belgium for a year to live with a guy from the cam sites. When that was over I came to UK to be with another man from the cams whom I've been with for almost 10 years. How do you teach chathost how to make the conversation private? I try to explain them but eigther my english is bad or they cant read english. Sometimes it is kind of frustrating. I think cc should explain them how to use this option.

I think most of us can agree we don't love governments, we don't love politicians, and in my opinion it is misguided to love nations. But we have a common humanity... Russians and Americans and everyone... and so I'd rather talk about what can bring us together.
Russia lost 27 million people in the war. One survey found that every other household in Russia lost a family relation.. Any loss in wartime is terrible. But this is just unimaginable. I just wanted to recognize by my post the terrible impact of WWII on the Russian people and the magnitude of their suffering in helping to achieve victory in Europe.

In my opinion, your original post implies a slap in the face against the others who helped bring about the victory, as if the Russians alone bore the burden, the suffering and the sacrifice. Yes, their losses were horrendous. But so were those of the other nations -- even if not to the magnitude of Russia's losses. It's nice that you want to laud the Russians. But please don't discount or minimize or trivialize the sacrifice other nations made in that war effort -- which is exactly the effect your words have by your blatantly ignoring them. Russia wasn't the only victim of Nazi aggressions. Russia wasn't the only victor over them. The Russians did not "win" the war in Europe. The Alllies won the war. All sacrificed.

I grew up reading of the devastation in western Europe during the war. But I think you have to multiply that 50 times over to approach the scale of disaster in Russia, and that is not often told.
So I think of my friend on this day, and her grandfather, and silently I say a prayer and wish them well. And to my Russian friends too. May we never see such devastation again.

I may be late to the party, but I do not see attempt to insult the rest of the Allies. We have make note of VE Day in US but do not generally bring attention to all countries. It is not meant as a slight to the others, just a note of respects to our young men who made ultimate sacrifice.

There are other times when you can let things unfold and maybe guide them along. Your best tool is your own imagination (and maybe a toy or two and nice shoes lol)
And other sites do have member profiles, but that takes up bandwidth and resources. Better that you got paid your fair share I think.

I always ask if they speak English in free text chat first. I would never just go straight into a hosts room without saying hi in chat first, I feel that would be kind of rude.
