1. How can I prevent a user from sending me messages? |
ccMail allows you to maintain both a White List and a Black List. If you want to prevent a user from sending you a message, then place their Screen Name on your Black List and they will be blocked. If you are unsure as to which Screen Names they may be using now and in future, then you can instead create a White List which allows you to limit the receipt of messages from only those Screen Names on your list. |

3. When I send some messages to users, why do some of them have warning messages saying that I am not allowed to send a message to a user because they don't exist or for security reasons? |
There can be a number of reasons why you are unable to send a message to another user. The most common reason is that they may have added you to their Black List. In this case, there is not much you can do. All of our users have the facility of adding a user to their Black List and it is totally at their discretion as to whether or not they make use of this function. A user may also set a limit to the number of messages they wish to receive from other users and also whether or not they are accepting messages from other users at all unless they have specifically added them to their White List. |

4. Why can't I send any more messages to myself? |

7. I have a user listed on my White List, but I would now like to add the user to my Black List. But when I try to, I receive a message saying 'Those users already exist on another list. You can't add them to both lists.' What should I do? |
A Screen Name cannot exist on both lists simultaneously, so you need to firstly remove the Screen Name from the White List by going to the 'White List' page and clicking on the Screen Name on the list to remove it from there. Finally, click the 'Save' button to make your change permanent. You will then be able to add the Screen Name to your Black List in the regular way. |

18. What is the difference between unread and new messages? |
The difference is that an 'unread' message has been seen by the recipient but they have chosen not to read it yet, while a 'new' message has not yet been seen by the recipient at all. The icon for new and unread messages is the same; the only difference is that the number of messages you will see refers only to the number of new messages. The number of unread messages is not included in this number. If you want to see the number of both types of messages, then both are displayed on the 'Inbox' page. |

20. Why do different messages in my Inbox have different icons? |
The different icons help identify both the status of the message and the options that you can apply to that message. Information about messages shown on the 'Inbox' page is as below (from left to right): 1 - Message Status: new, unread, read or replied to. 2 - Attachments: if a message has no attachments, then the row is empty. If there is an attachment, then an image of a paper clip will be displayed. 3 - Sender's Screen Name: clicking on the icon will show a list of messages from that user only. 4 - Message Subject: if the sender did not choose a subject, then this will read '[No subject]'. 5 - Date: when the message was sent. 6 - Delete: by clicking on the icon, it allows you to delete that message. |
