Before you start

CamContacts is moving away from the current Video technology to something much much better.

Among its key features:

  • Faster Video, up to 3 times faster
  • Your viewers will be able to hear you, and you can also hear them
  • Two way Video - re-launching CamToCam
  • No software download - it all works directly from your browser
  • Works with most Internet connections
  • Better looking and it will get even better as we continue to improve it
  • Works on Windows 98 and later, and Apple Macintosh Computers - OS X 10 or higher (including Leopard)

You no longer need to start the CCNetwork WebCam Software - please do not start it. Everything you need (including your Camera, taking pictures, etc.) is now part of your Chat Console.

No WebCam Software

The CCN WebCam Software goes away! If you're using the new software, you will
NOT be able to login to the existing CCN WebCam Software

Congratulations! You are now online and broadcasting on CamContacts.

Step 4: Lets look at every part of your Video Chat window

Your Video Chat window

Step 4.1: Your Video and Sound

In the top-left corner, you will see your Video - with the same image quality as seen by your Viewers.

Your Video

Green DotIn the top-right corner of your Video there's a dot showing if Viewers will be able to see you. Green - everything fine or Red - something is wrong.

The icons in the bottom-right corner will allow you change various aspects of your Video.

Camera Icon If you have more than one camera, you can configure which one you want to use with CamContacts:

Select Camera Window Choose Camera Window Close Settings Window

Microphone Icon You can select your microphone on this screen - try all the listed microphones until a green bar appears below Microphone. You can also set the microphone volume - start talking with your normal voice (as if you were talking with someone in the room) and adjust the Record Volume (while talking) until the bar stays green, and does not become yellow or red. If your sound is distorted or there's too much echo, you should also check select Reduce Echo.

Here's how a correctly configured microphone should look like (while you're talking):

Select Microphone

If you select your camera and microphone correctly, your Viewers will be able to see and hear you.

Mute Icon Mute or un-mute your microphone.

Take Snapshot Icon Take a snapshot picture and send it to your Picture Archives available online on CamContacts, when someone visits your profile.

You will now be guided through a series of dialogs, allowing you to select how do you want to take the picture, and how to present it to CamContacts visitors.

Take Snapshot Step 1

If you choose Take picture with 10 seconds delay, you will have 10 seconds to prepare before the picture is taken.

Take Snapshot Step 2

While this window is showing, the picture you just took is displayed instead of your video. If you're happy with how it looks, click on Send picture, otherwise Back to try one more time.

Don't forget to also choose the type of picture - Profile pictures will appear directly on your Chathost Profile on CamContacts, and on the main Who Is Online pages, while Archive pictures can be found in your picture archives. Also, you need to select Members only for adult pictures, while non-adult ones can be Guest friendly.

Take Snapshot Step 3

Your picture is now sent to CamContacts - you're done!

Help IconOpens the Video Chat Manual (this page).

Step 4.2: Quality settings

Left from your Video you will see two vertical bars; they display how good is your Internet connection, and how good and simple is your room's interior decoration, camera and lighting in room. If everything is perfect, they are both green. Quality Bars

The left bar indicates how fast your Internet connection is; it will only appear while a Viewer is in your room.

Anything other than green shows how bad your Internet connection is - effects can vary from poor video experience to Viewers not being able to see you at all. If that is the case, it is very important to upgrade your Internet connection.

The right bar indicates how good are the interior decorations in your room, your camera and room lighting.

For example, too complicated decorations (like, a curtain with a tiger pattern, or anything with a lot of colors) will make your Video slower. In the same way, old/cheap video cameras (that produce a low quality, or complicate the image - something that might not be visible for you), or fluorescent lighting will make your Video slower.

Step 4.3: A Viewer has entered your room!

When a Viewer enters your Video, you will hear a continuous loud noise and an alert window will appear. Clicking OK will close the alert window and stop the loud noise.

If you'd like to hear the loud noise only once (not continuous), select From now on ring only once before clicking OK.

Video Alert Video Alert Ring Once

If you have one or more Viewers, we determine the number of images (every second) at which they are seeing you (commonly known as Frame Rate or Frames Per Second - FPS) and display it in the top-left corner of your Video.

Video Frames per Second

Frames per Second For example, now you're being seen at 24.2 images per second.

Step 4.4: Cam To Cam

When a Viewer selects Cam To Cam, their video will be displayed instead of the gray area to the left from your video - and you'll be able to see and hear them.

Video Silhouette becomes 2 Way Video

On the image there are several buttons:

Mute Icon Mute or un-mute the sound from Viewer.

Pause
Icon Hide the Video from Viewer - press again to show it.

Stop Icon Stop the video from Viewer - they will be told that The Chathost has closed Cam To Cam.

Viewer Nick Icon This is the camera from Viewer *EDJones*.

You can only see one Viewer at a time (even if you have more than one Viewer in your session) - its Screen Name will be displayed in the top left corner of their video.

Step 4.5: The Visitors list

In the right-bottom side of your screen you have the list of people (Viewers, Members, Guests or other Chathosts) in your Chat or Video.

User List of SexyDoll18 will become All User List

Note the different colors for different types of visitors:

*SexyDoll18* Yourself, in Red
*EDJones* A Viewer - watching you right now, in Green
*themobidick* A Member - potential Viewer, just in for chatting, in Dark Blue
*Guest_9kmVqd* A Guest, potential Member, just in for chatting, in Black
*Emmanuelle69* Another Chathost, in for chatting, in Orange

If a Viewer is receiving Video, there will be a green sign near its nickname OK Icon. If there are problems with the Viewer's video, the sign will be red No Video Icon.

If you select a Screen Name from the list, all your messages will go to that person; if All is selected, your messages will go to everyone.

Select Screenname

If a visitor is behaving badly, you can select its Screen Name and ignore it - they will not be able to talk with you anymore. Be aware that you might upset them, and most likely they will not visit you again.

Select User Add to Ignored list

Step 4.6: The Chat

The Chat

You can type messages and chat with your visitors - they will see it and answer back to you.

Chat with Text

Chat options Button From the Chat Options menu you can select choose the font size (bigger text, if you are far from the monitor), whether to sound an alert when someone enters the room or types a message, or whether or not to allow other Chathosts to enter the room.
